2009 "Sugarloafer" Gopher Information

It’s that time of year again!

This year’s registration & pizza party are scheduled for Monday, May 11^th (play is optional) and official play will begin Monday May 18th.

 Due to a scheduling conflict, the Opening Day Pizza Party has been changed to May 11th. 

Registration is $35.00 and includes the pizza party, one clinic with PGA Pro Jason Martonick, the end-of-season Banquet and trophies.

Gophers pay just $5.00 per week to play.  Parents are welcome to walk along (no fee) or ride along for just $7.00 per cart.

Welcome to the 2009 Gopher Junior Golf Program!  Following is information for the upcoming season, the calendar of events, rules & banquet information.  If you have any questions, please email Judy at jknelly@sugarloafgolfclub.com and she’ll answer emails promptly!  We are looking forward to having our Junior League again and want to thank all Gophers for respecting each other and the course.  Wayne, Tom, Jay, Jason & I have really enjoyed working with you all!

* Pizza Party ~ Please meet at the clubhouse at 5:30 for pizza & soda (Compliments of Wayne & Judy), a brief orientation for new players, and golf for any Gophers who’d like to play.

Gopher League Rules

1. League members must present membership card to Pro Shop.
2. Please play without delay.
3. No foul language.  No throwing golf clubs.  Failure to obey these rules will result in membership privileges being revoked.
4. League membership is open to all junior golfers from age 5 through age 15.
5. All players will play “San Diego Rules”.  After your 8^th stroke, pick up your ball and place it on the front edge of the green and putt from there.  Record your total score for the hole.

Format of Play

1.       Age Group 13 – 15

a.       Meet at 5:10

b.       Begin teeing off at 5:15

c.       Experienced players play 9 holes from the white tees.

d.       Inexperienced players play 7 holes from the 200 yard markers.

e.       Inexperienced players play the red tees on holes 3 & 7.

f.        It is extremely important that this age division play without delay.  It should take approx. 2 hours to play 9 holes.  If you are falling behind the group ahead of you, please do your best to pick up the pace of play!  If you want to play more holes you may.

2.       Age Group 10 – 12

a.       Meet at 5:30

b.       Begin teeing off at approx. 5:45

c.       Experienced players may play 7 - 9 holes from the red tees.

d.       Inexperienced players play 5 - 7 holes from the 200 yard markers.  Play the red tees on holes 3 & 7.

e.       If you want to play more holes you may!

3.       Age Group 7 – 9

a.       Meet at 5:45

b.       Begin teeing off at Approx. 6:00

c.       All players play 5 – 7 holes from the 150 yard markers.  Play the red tees on holes 3 & 7.

d.       If you want to play more holes you may!

4.       Age Group 5 – 6

a.       Meet at 6:15

b.       Begin teeing off at approx. 6:25

c.       Play 3 – 5 holes from the 100 yard markers.    Play the red tees on hole #3.

d.       If you want to play more holes you may!

FYI

1.  Parents & Grandparents are encouraged to walk along with the Gophers on Monday nights.

2.  Gophers may play with a responsible adult as follows:

            a. Call for tee time and let us know you are a member of the Gophers.  

            b. Adult pays the prevailing rate, Gophers are FREE!

c. We will do our best to accommodate all requests (even weekends), but   cannot guarantee availability during busy times.

            3.  Gophers can present membership card at pro shop for 10% off on all pro shop

merchandise.
